Laboratory Accreditation

Laboratory Accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025)

Laboratory accreditation is the process by which an independent accreditation body (AB) assesses a laboratory’s competence to carry out specific tests or calibrations. ABs assess laboratories against international standards, such as ISO/IEC 17025, which specify the requirements for the quality and competence of testing and calibration laboratories.

Laboratory accreditation is important for a number of reasons:

  • It helps to ensure the quality and reliability of laboratory data.
  • It helps businesses to comply with regulations.
  • It helps businesses to differentiate their products and services from the competition.
  • It helps businesses to access new markets.
