Accreditation Symbol

The USAB accreditation symbol is a visible sign that an organization has met USAB’s rigorous standards for competence, impartiality, and consistency. The USAB accreditation symbol is a registered trademark of the United States Accreditation Board (USAB).

USAB accredited organizations are authorized to use the USAB accreditation symbol on their stationery, website, and other marketing materials. The USAB accreditation symbol is also recognized by other accreditation bodies around the world, which means that USAB accredited organizations can use the USAB accreditation symbol to demonstrate their competence to international customers and partners.

Using the USAB Accreditation Symbol

USAB accredited organizations must use the accreditation symbol in accordance with the following guidelines:

  • The accreditation symbol must be used in conjunction with the name or logo of the accredited organization.
  • The accreditation symbol must not be used in a way that is misleading or deceptive.
  • The accreditation symbol must not be used in a way that suggests that the accredited organization is endorsed by USAB for any specific product or service.

Seal of approval for competent conformity assessments

A seal of approval for competent conformity assessments is a visible mark or symbol that an organization has met the requirements of a specific conformity assessment standard. The seal of approval is issued by an accredited conformity assessment body (CAB).

CABs are independent organizations that assess the conformity of products, services, processes, and systems to relevant standards and requirements. CABs are accredited by national or regional accreditation bodies, which ensures that they meet high standards of competence, impartiality, and consistency.

How to Obtain the USAB Seal of Approval

To obtain the USAB seal of approval, an organization must follow these steps:

  1. Select a conformity assessment standard to be assessed against. There are a number of different standards to choose from, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 17025.
  2. Identify an accredited CAB that can provide assessment services for the selected standard. A list of accredited CABs is available on the USAB website.
  3. Submit an application to the CAB. The application process will vary depending on the CAB and the conformity assessment standard.
  4. Undergo a conformity assessment process. This process may involve on-site assessments, document reviews, and testing.
  5. If the organization meets the requirements of the conformity assessment standard, the CAB will issue the USAB seal of approval.

Maintaining the USAB Seal of Approval

Once an organization has earned the USAB seal of approval, it must maintain its conformity to the relevant standard through regular surveillance assessments. These assessments are conducted by USAB-accredited assessors to ensure that the organization continues to meet the high standards of quality and excellence that are associated with the seal of approval.
